Weird Engine Noise

hey guys,

newbie here. When i accelerate from low RPMs, it sounds like my engine is gurgling. I really cant tell where its coming from, but its getting progressively worse. It almost sounds like a knocking. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks alot.......

He might be refering to checking your oil level. There are some issues with piston slap in some engines as well as several things that can induce knocking on acceleration.

Give us some more info on your truck... year and engine size in particular. Has any service been done on it recently?

Its a 98, 4.6 2WD. It hasnt been happening as often now. I think its the gas that I've been puttting in. I put some high octane Amoco in the last few tanks for a road trip and it hasnt been doing it at all. Hopefully thats all it is. Thanks for the help, ill keep you posted.

When was the fuel filter changed last? I would have it changed every 20k miles. If it hasn't been changed, you might ought to see about that. It's only about $15 at NAPA and there are instructions on this site on how to change it yourself. You might also want to run some fuel injector cleaner like Chevron Techron or Marvel Mystery Oil for a tank or two.
