need advise

Hi,
I posted a while ago with this problem but am looking for more input. I have a 91 f150 with a 302, aod, reg cab, long box. I was getting on to the freeway about 20minutes form home, when my truck lost a lot of power and it didn't want to accelerate. Then a couple minutes later I noticed white smoke coming out from under the hood. All gauges said every thing was fine, but I pulled over and popped the hood and saw no leaks and no smoke; checked fluids and everything was good. no odd noises either. So i got backin and started to go and had no power and the smoke came out again. I found out that the whitish smoke was coming out of the openelement air filter and increased in itensity with engine rpm.
I am don't know what is going on. I was planing on getting a crate engine this summer for it. But with college I am really tight on money right now. Any input would by great.
Thanks,
Pete

Also on the Crown Vic 302 Id bet its EFI right? is it EEC-IV I think it is, you can pull the codes from it, go here http://www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html
that should tell you how to pull the codes and point u in the direction of the problem...

The truck is efi. The crown vic is too but only tbi, Thanks for the website I will try that when I go home from college next weekend.
The truck was running pretty good b4 this happened. I stopped at a ford dealer on the way home when it happened. One of the mechanics came out and looked at it, ran it and said that every ting looked fine except for the smoke out of the intake and loss of power. He figured it could possibly be that the truck jumped timeing. And sugjested that I could try driving the last 10miles home and I did so that is where it sits.

if you have a timing light check the timing sounds like something is wrong with timing because air is suposed to be sucked in not blown out so your intake valves must be open when the piston is coming up on exhaust stroke but could be a stuck open intake valve also. you could do a compression check to find which cyl. is causing the problem.

only way to tell is either pulling chain cover and looking or doing a compression test, the compression test if all of the cylinders aren't building enough pressure then its the timing chain... but if its only one cylinder thats low then you have a bad or stuck valve on that cylinder... also anyway you could take a pic of it? where exactly is it coming out? could it be coming from the PCV system?

Well right now I have it torn down to the timing cover. I dont have an air ratchet so I couldn't get the dampener/crank pully off.
Also I ran out of time and had to go back down to college. I hope to get home this weekend and talk to my nieghbor about barrowing an air ratchet.
I have a k&n air filter on the truck and the smoke would come out of the top. There is also some kind of residue/fluid on the inside fender wall, under the air filter. I don't really know what it is it is just enough to make it look wet. How does a guy go about doing a compretion test? I know you have to get the gauge and it goes into the spark plug hole, but then what?
Also thanks to all for the help so far.

To do a compression test read this: http://www.geocities.com/dsmgrrrl/FAQs/compression.htm
Im not sure what the readings should be but you will know if you have a bad valve because it will be a lot less then the others... and look at the timing chain and camshaft do the two dots line up? it could be that the back of your engine has a oil leak and the smoke is rising... what does that fluid look like does it appear to be oil? or something like engine coolant, smelling it might help too... do you smell oil burning? or is it more like steam that is coming out of it...
