5.0 knocking

I have a 93 F150 with a 5.0, I just replaced the heads due to a busted valve. The only problem I am haveing now is an exsesive knocking. Nothing loud just annoying. sometimes its there other times its not. Any ideas of the problem would be great.

Does the knocking go away when the engine warms up? If so, you probably have piston slap. My 302 used to have that, until I rebuilt it.

Is it timed properly? I think 93 still used a spout connector that had to be unplugged in order to get the timing right.

The spout connector is in the Ign module wire harness. It is an electrical connector with a plug in it. Take out the plug and it opens the circuit. If you have this type of set up it will mention it on the emmision label under the hood. It will also prob. tell you to time the engine at a specific RPM( not idle)
