5.4 engine miss
5.4 engine miss
I have a 97 f150 with a 5.4. with 80k miles. Last week it developed a miss. Yesterday while changing the spark plugs and noticed coolant in the #6 and # 7 spark plug wells. I have not noticed any white exhaust smoke and don't have any coolant loss. I probally drove it 20 miles with the miss. I am not that familiar with the modular motors. It could be a head gasket problem. Could it be an intake gasket problem?
my 5.4 doesn't have coolant hoses any where near 6 & 7.
It sounds like a leak but if you are counting the cylinders correctly it would have to be a sensor or the thermostat housing causing this. Or a leaky radiator and it is the fan blowing the coolant there.
Heater hoses are on the right ( passenger side ) of the 5.4 and this is the 1-4 cylinders.
6&7 being located on the left side of the engine makes this a bit puzzling to me.
