speed density to maf????
i have a 95 f-150 4x4 w/a 351. i currently have a set of power pulleys, k&n, poweraid throttle body spacer, low temp thermostat, msd blaster tfi coil, msd 5 multispark ignition, flowtech shortie headers, flowmaster 40 series muffler with a single cat and the egr blocked off.
i was told from some internet/and friends that i need to switch to a maf set up instead of my speed density system for any of the upgrades to take effect or to help compliment them. and that my computer does not know the difference and the parts i added will not effect anything.
just wondering what insights this website has on the subject. and if i need to switch, what all do i need to get? i have a friend that works for a company that strips wrecked vehicles so getting a maf setup would be easy, i just dont know if i really need it or what all i need to get. i think for came out with a maf setup on the 96 models cuz my friends 96 f-150 w/a 302 has a maf setup from the factory. i also saw in a jegs catalog a maf conversion kit just for this very purpose and it says this must be the first thing added before any upgrades can take effect.

First off Cameron, welcome to the board !!!
If you look at this picture you will see the air tube coming off of the front of the engine and going to the front right-hand corner. Just as the picture ends on the right, there is a silver piece attached to the air tube. See if you have one on your truck like mine. Engine Driver's Side
I would think that your truck should have Mass-Air already, I could be wrong. It have been helping a buddy build a 351W for his '29 Model A Ford Pickup and we were told that a Mass-Air system was available for these trucks from '94 - '97. And some of the mods that you have done should have made the computer a little upset with it's reading inthat the speed density only reads from a few fuel curves depending upon the readings from the o2 sensor. If you have Mass-Air already, then you are laughing all the way to the bank to get more money to continue playing. If you don't have the silver aluminum piece just before the K&N filter/Air box then you will have a black box attached to the fire wall on the passenger side of the truck. It will have a few vacumm tubes going to the upper intake. Let us know what you have first and we can go from there.
