Troyer Fans Installed...(statement for Mike)
Troyer Fans Installed...(statement for Mike)
Got my fans installed and what a great kit. Very nice fans and no problems with the installation at all. Installing the fans to the radiator was a little bit of a pita, but not too bad. Wiring and everything is very straight foward and the directions are top notch. I personally can not think of a thing I would add to make the job easier. I only had three issues with the entire kit...
1, BOTH fans were wired backwards. I had to use the blue as the ground and the black as hot.
2, with the temp probes properly installed (the ends were flush with the fins of the radiator on the engine side) the back side (wire side) of the probes was no where close to touching the A/C condensor. I had a good inch to inch and a half.
---Mike, I just used some RTV on both ends of the probes to help secure it in place. Is this going to be sufficient? They seemd pretty sturdy when I was done...
3, Mike's not kidding when he says in the directions that setting the turn on temps is a tedious process....Whew....
---I used 200-202 (+-) for the first one, and right at 210 for the second. I used a mechanical water temp gauge installed in the heater hose line for a temp reference.
One question though...Do the fans turn off based on temperature or do they run for a preset time and then turn off??? (with engine running)
That's all I have. Great product. Haven't even driven it yet to see the difference but can't wait...espicially since I did underdrive pulleys at the same time!!!

Re: Troyer Fans Installed...(statement for Mike)
I had the same experience that you did.
Installing the fans on the radiator was a serious PITA! It is a very straight forward kit with great instructions though
Both my fans were backwards also. Had to use the blue wire for the ground.
Same with the probes. They weren't anywhere near touching the A/C condensor but the wires did run on it a bit.
The fans run until the temp is 10 to 15 degrees below what you set the fan to turn on at.
