You have to remove and replace the front of the engine(timing cover) Intake system just to remove and replace on head gasket on the right side of a Triton motor.

That will be near 14 hours labor and whatever parts consumed.

NO. If you have the resources availbel to lift the cab it will be a much easier job however.

Not sure how the dealers do it. Reckon each one is different.

to the first question/statement. I believe they wouldn't miss a chance to charge you for a new head if it was imperfect. I think they were referring to the crappy gasket they put on most of the engines.

If you are getting the same leak on the same side of the engine I sure hope it is within the 90 days they warranty their work. I would think the next one is free if that is the case.

Good Luck..

Actually, I think the opposite happened. Since it was still under warranty, it was all free (for me) so they didn't replace the faulty head.

The part number on the 10 x 2 cylinder head is for head bolts. You had a blown head gasket and they did a dye test to find the leak. You probably have an external oil cooler with 7-quart capacity. When the head gasket is blown, it mixes oil and water. I would be real concerned if they only listed 7 quarts, but it looks like the finished the job with a fresh oil change and that's a good thing. I've seen heads with a slight bulge from casting and it can cause a gasket to weaken. It's a simple process of grinding and polishing with a dermal type tool. Takes about 5 minutes. I wouldn't remove the head unless you have a new set of head bolts and a complete head and intake gasket set because as mentioned above, they are one time use. You will probably also void the warranty.

Doesn't Ford have a program where, if they fix a problem and it comes back again for the same problem, you don't have to pay for it? Regardless of the warranty issues?
Maybe they ditched that program because too many bring backs .

I believe that is restricted to 1 year or 12,000 miles after the repair.

i had my head gasket replaced 18 months ago and it started leaking again. the dealer only stands by their work for 1 year. i'm going to live with the leak until it makes puddles on the driveway
