Fan Clutch

How the heck do I get the freaking fan clutch off???? I'm trying to get rid of it and convert to electric fans. HELP!!!

There are two wrenches used to remove the fan clutch; one holds two of the bolts on the water pump pulley as you use the other to remove the fan clutch.Your local parts house should have these to rent out.

Just to let you know before you wreck any wrenches or knukcles, the fan is NOT a reverse thread...at least on mine it wasn't. Chilton's says it's reverse, but most posts by people who have done this mod say that theirs is reg thread.

I did the e-fan mod abt a month ago and like it. Too early to tell if the MPG has improved tho.

Which fan are you putting in? I got mine from Troyer and the mod was very straight forward.

I just went the cheap route and bought one from the junk yard. I think it's off a tarus. It's a 2 speed 15 inch. It's cool enough right now though where that'll do me fine. When it starts to warm up or I have extra time I'm goign to add a second, but for now this will do me fine.
