Best Air Intake?
Last night I installed a K&N air intake...i used to have just the K&N cone by itself...i don'tseem to notice much...of course the air is so cold this time of year...
i sure like the LOOKS of that AIR FORCE ONE....
are any of the intakes actually any better than others?
dave
oh..it took me about 90 minutes to install...i had a problem getting the secondary sensor clip out of the old canister!!!!!!! then i realized it was easier to just open it up and go in from the top...duh!

In regards to one being better then another I think they are all about the same. Assuming you p/u one that is not made by some hole in the wall company.
In regards to no tnoticing a difference in power did you remember to disconnect the battery so as to let the computer reset itself? That could be why you didn't notice a difference.

yeah,
the first step was to disconect the bat...since part of the install would be a couple of electric conects..(sensors)
but you know...the air is SOOOO cold right now..im in the sierras
my guess is i was already getting a lot of cold air...so i am thinking in SUMMER i would have noticed it off the get go.
it does actually...SEEM like the engine is hitting higher RPMS faster..maybe thats what i should be noticing...??

You're fine with what you have put on already. We have this discussion all the time in the mustang forums, unless you're putting down serious horsepower, don't waste your money on fancy air intakes. The K&N filter you put on will do the job
If it is cold, you should be noticing the difference even more! As far as performance goes, it is the best when air is cold and dense. Cold and thin might be different though, since you're at high altitude. I had the full K&N intake, and switched back to the drop in. I noticed the difference right away. What you mentioned about the engine revving faster is about right. Mine doesn't build rpms as quickly as it used to, which can be noticed off the line and while passing at freeway speeds.,,,,98
Most intakes are only good for about 5-8 actual HP, in opposition of their claims.

hey 98SCREAMER
i guess what i meant by the cold..is that even the old k&n filter by itself was getting a lot of cold air...and that putting on the FIPK wasn't much different since it was already cold even with the other filter.
but yeah..the revs seem to be most noticeable.
