Start synthetic at 60k Miles?
I here that synthetic is good for gas miledge and since I am running 33's and do alot of towing, I am putting alot of wear and getting bad gas miledge. I was going to start running synthetic in my truck, but somebody told me that if you start it at 60,000 miles you will find it goes though the seals easily. Has anybody started synthetic at a high miledge and have you had any problems?
I think you will get a lot of mixed reviews on this. I would say, if you have done good maintenance on your truck, then you can switch to synthetic. If you already have engine problems, then I wouldn't. You should be OK at just 60k, that's not that many miles.

Sure you can switch over.
Guy at work just changed over his 1988 Ford Ranger with over 200,000 miles to mobil 1.
I changed over many a customer with near 100,000 or more.
Make sure you do an engine flush first. Change either the oil or filter or both early on the first run.
Might want to look at doing an Auto-RX run as well.

I believe that might be true you will develop leaks on an older engine. One thing about the newer Fords is they have very good gaskets. Other than the flaky head gasket that leaked.
I wouldn't worry too much at all about going to synthetic. Just wouldn't go back after doing so.
