Question Idle air control valve location?

Could someone tell me where the IAC valve might be located on my '03 4.6? I'm thinking mine needs to be cleaned or replaced...thanks!

Remove the black throttle body cover.

On the driver side, right next to the TB, should be the IAC. Should be a small cylinder with wires coming from it.

Is this the same location of the IAC on a 2000 5.4 F-150?
I've been having problems on cold starts and once I can get it
to idle at about 400 rpms, I can then take some pliers and tap
a component that is between the throttle body and cowl/firewall.
The idle will jump up to about 650-700 rpm and all is well. No problems until the next cold start. Any info. as to wether different years/engines have a different IAC location will be helpful.

Thanks

I am pretty sure they are in the same location.

But if the part you are tapping is BEHIND the TB, then I think you are looking at the EGR.

The IAC is NEXT to the TB.

You are tapping the IAC. My 2000 5.4 the IAC is located on the back side of the TB Egr is located on the TB driverside. Tube running from it to the exhaust manifold.

I would suggest trying to clean the IAC and while I was at it I would give the PVC elbow a good looking at too. The IAC is located just above that PVC elbow. Both could cause the idle problems you are experiencing.

Thanks for the help. I'll be cleaning/purchasing a new IAC in the morning and will report back on my success or failure. Looks as if I'll need to get out the step ladder to reach the darn thing. It's wedged pretty far back there.

Thanks again!
