winter fuel sucks. i lose 10% in mileage on all 3 of my vehicles once the winter fuel hits. the effect is immediately noticeable. do you suppose it is really any cleaner in net effect? maybe there is less pollution per gallon but you use more gallons. anyone got any info on that?

That’s a good question. I have never “really” known what is different in the winter fuel. Is it a different blend because of how “cold” it may get (below 32 degrees) I know with diesel fuel at certain temperatures it can gel, but never really heard of know what can happen to regular gasoline at very low temps.

Anyone know or have information?

I have a 4.6 with a labor knock problem. Post for carbon buildup. I have cleaned the system with deep creep and sea foam. It actually got worse for a short time now back to knocking under a load such as accelerating. Higher octane fuel eliminates the problem but I know a lot of people which run fine on 87. Any other thing I can do? I think I cleaned the carbon out as well as possible. Also should I be putting in something in the fuel every month or so?

There is a company called Motorvac that has a machine that gets rid of the deposits in the Combustion Chamber. Ask your mechanic about it. Look at http://www.auto-adv.com/MotorVac.htm
for more info.
