Question Misfire and loss of power

Can someone offer some solutions to this problem I'm having? Everytime I drive through water my 1997 F150 Lariat misfires and loses power considerably. When my mechanic checks it he finds water on the spark plugs. My question what is causing it to suck up the water? Is this a normal problem of this year of trucks or what and what can be done to stop it occuring over and over, by the way we changed the spark plugs and the problem started a bit after that coincidence or related?

You know, I find water and/or mud on my plugs as well, and it's not that deep. Seems like it doesn't even come up to my tow hooks, and it still ends up on the plugs and wires. I would like to know this, also. dreamsr, what engine do you have? I have a 97 Lariat with the 4.6 Liter.

Well pickup man I have a Lariat 5.4L and the water isn't high at all, cause I have on 18 inch wheels and it doesn't even reach 1/4 of the wheel but it seems to be sucking up the water when u pass through it. So I don't know, a design anamoly perhaps, any Ford F150 rep on here can help us out?????

Side line:- yow pickup man why a PS2, have you already put in your A/V System?

My guess you are going slow. Fan is one hell of a bunch of air and blow when you are in low gear.

Any water reaches the top of the motor it will run down a plug hole. Yes engine design is the reason.

How to fix electric fans with a switch so you can turn them off when running water?

Other solution find a bridge.
