OIl Pan Magnet
OIl Pan Magnet
Anyone know where I can get an oil pan magnet,,,the one that is round, about 4 or 5 inches in across and an inch thick with a hole in the middle.
I have looked at every autopart store and on line for about an hour...

Isnt the oil filter supposed to do that? I work at Valvoline, and a lot of GM products have a small magnet on the tip of their drain plugs. When i pull them out, they have maybe just a tiny bit of metal shavings on them.
If you are that worried about it, get a second oil filter. And if you want, get a magnetic drain plug. I only like the magnetic drain plugs because i can stick them to the under caraige pan while im drainin it and takin off the filter...
Just my 2 cents

also, it will only collect ferous metal, not aluminum, or bearing material.
but to the question at hand, when i did my tranny service recently there was a monster magnet in the tranny pan of my 01 4r100. That pan was designed for it though with a dimple the hole fit over so the magnet would stay in place.
i think i'd go with the magnetized drain plug if i were you.
