Throttle body/butterfly adjustment

If I replace the throttle body on my 03 5.4 how do I make sure the throttle body butterfly is adjusted correctly & set to specs?

Do I unplug the IAC and set the hot idle with the screw to a certain RPM?

Is there a gap between the butterfly & body that is measured inside the throttle body like on a carb by using a drill bit?

Jim,

There is nothing to adjust. You remove the old one and install the new one. From the book; Whenever an IAC component is replaced or cleaned or a service affecting idle is performed, it is recommended that Keep Alive RAM be cleared. This is necessary so the idle strategy does not use the previously learned Idle Air Trim values. You can also set the TPS value to .98v closed using a voltmeter but that is about it.

Throttle Body Adjustment

What function does the adjustment screw (idle screw?) for the throttle linkage serve if there is no adjustment for the throttle body/butterfly?

I'm going to adjust the TPS to .98-.99v and I want to make sure everything else connected to it is also adjusted correctly.

If the T Body needs to be adjusted using the adjustment/idle screw that would also affect the TPS adjustment so I want to make sure I do it all at one time.

Thanks,
Jim
