Underdrive pulleys
Have been thinking of getting underdrive pulleys for my '97 4.6L 4x4.
Looking at Troyer Performance, they are nearly $200. On e-Bay they are much cheaper but I only see them for the Mustang 4.6L.
Are the Mustang 4.6L and the F150 4.6L engines basically the same? And can I use the Mustang underdrive pulleys on my F150?
Thanks as always...

yes they are the same, but as he said ours is 8 rib theres is 6 rib, but you can still buy the nice steeda ones off ebay and just run a 6 rib belt, thats what i'm doing, it not a big deal, so save some money and get those sick steeda pulleys.
turns your accesories slower, so instead of the ac compressor taking 20hp, and the alt taking 5, it spins them slower, not a big problem because its pretty much wasted power spinning them as fast as they do. just dont expect to idle around town all day and run a bunch of electrical acessories without draining your battery
My new pulleys
I spent about a half day installing my new underdrive set yesterday. Its actually a combination. The set comes with an undersized crank pulley and an oversized waterpump in order to spin the waterpump at a faster rate to make up for the ratio change. At any rate. It was a Jet Performance set I purchased brand new off E-Bay. The installation was not as bolt-on as I expected. It required some shaving of a few areas on the timing cover that made contact when the waterpump pulley was installed. But once that was done by removing, shaving, and re-installing it really was a straightforward process.
The result is well worth the effort. It revs quicker, and definitely has a seat of the pants improvement. Smokes tires at will on dead starts now. Almost too easily if you aren't careful. Anyway I rate the mod as a big improvement for the money. I easily expect an improvement in M.P.G.. I was happy with 18.2 but I'll happily take more. Next mod is an electric fan install. I'm designing a single fan set-up. The fan came off a Vovlo S-70 twin turbo. I am designing the control circuit and will post the details if there is interest in it.

Tom, please post em when you finish. I would be very interested in the plans as I'm sure others would be too, they just have not read this post.
