Ugh, help. Pulled a "My Bad"
Ugh, help. Pulled a "My Bad"
Lets see. Had rebolted my Air Force intake after a bolt had come out. Anyways, I was in one hell of a rush to get to work. And the rubber grommet that connects the intake tube to the throttle body was left on the throttle body. So when I put the intake tube back in I had accidently pushed it in too far and covered the, uh, PVC valve? Well, the two tubes, one that goes to a sensor on the intake manifold and the other that goes to the valve covers (oil).
Anyways, I drove it like that for about a week or so and finally realized that tonite. Fixed it, but nothing is really different. When the engine is warm it runs fine, but will almost always stall on idle. And I get a loud jittery noise from the oil resevoir. The problem goes away if i remove the oil cap. Well, problem as in noise, but idles even worse.
Plans of action: change oil (can't hurt) and clean the IAC. still have the problem i'll get an oil breather. Oh, and reset the computer.
Suggestions?

The week you drove it, did you clock over 200 miles ?
If so I'd say to look at a few things.
1. Reset the computer now, and follow the idle time, and run time ( I still do the running part, others will say it is not needed ).
2. Check the 2 lines that attach to the intake, to make sure nothing got in the end of them.
3. Check the PCV to see if it is blocked from not being able to vent.
These are the things I'd start with instead of taking the PITA IAC off the truck to start with.
The truck running worse with the oil cap off it to be expected, that is un-mettered air into the system, and can cause problems.
There is a distinct possiability that you have a dirty IAC, but that might not be the cause of the problem here at the moment.
If you re-trained the computer with the liens blocked, it just maybe a case of it not having a sense of humor about them being un-blocked....? Just a SWAG.
