Service light

Hello folks..........former user name Hughie, but had to re-register........
My 02 S'crew is now 2 years old, and has done 60.000 miles.
I dont have any problems, but despite correct care, the service engine soon light is on. I have disconnected the battery, but the light only remained out for a day, so there may be a problem I dont know about. Not many F150 experts here in UK, so its hard to find knowledgeable help. Any suggestions?

Welcome back.

I don't recall seeing an F150 in the driveway at Leeds castle when I visited a few years back.

Since you probably can't run down to AutoZone to get the codes read we will need a little more to go on.

What engine do you have? Is the light solid or flashing? Any driveability problems? Do any modifications to the engine? What parts have you replaced over the last few years? Do you have access to a code reader, or tuner software? Where did you get your truck? What octane of fuel are you using?

Standing by.....

Getting your engine codes scanned and cleared would be your best bet.
It could be lot of things ,the evap recovery leak, o2 sensor dirty or bad wiring, egr valve dirty are common faults.

Flafonman/Mike....thanks for your responses.
The engine is an unmodified 4.6. Only thing its had have been oil changes, and oil/air filters. The light is 'solid'. No running probs....starts well, doesnt smoke, and is very smooth. Average gas consumption has remained steady at 17m/uk gall, but if anything of late, its been a little better.
Regards..Hughie
