volant intake filter system NEW

just found out that the volant intake is better than k&n and other opened filter systems more hp. the volant filter system is in a closed in box. super wide hose and box for max cool air intake.
not exposed to the engine heat, the other end of the box (filter) shoots out to the fender or elsewhere to the fresh air. cold air intake only, cost more $30 more than k&n, more of the pro's are going this route. anyone want to challenge this? look it up then do so.

Their customer service could use some improvement though. Before I bought one, I e-mailed twice with a request for some info. No response. After buying it, 1 phone call and 1 e-mail was also ignored.
I am happy with the product. In combination with the Gibson exhaust, I can feel and hear the difference.

The "big 3" intakes have been tested here.

The link provided by jimsford shows K&N has the most gain.

I bought my Volant before K&N offered a "box" because I own a black on black truck in MD and it gets really hot here in the summer.

I have been very happy so far.

That report does rate the K&N has more peak HP gains but the Volant is the only one on the market tested that had the most consistant HP gains over all conditions.

Got a couple of questions for you guys. What size is the intake tube on the Volant box?

Also, does anyone have a K&N with the new heat shield? or know where one might find pictures of it on a Ford truck?

Well, I've seen the Volant before, but never been able to tell what size tube goes into the fender. I came pretty close to buying one, but didn't want to spend that kind of money. I was about to buy a Western Motorsports intake, but Dad got me one for my birthday. Its basically the same as the Volant, but uses the stock air box, and is a lot cheaper. I just got mine installed Saturday...

Air velocity is as important as volume. Bigger is not better if you loose velocity.

The Volant does not have a tube that goes into the fender well. It has an opening with a gasket that surrounds the opening in the fender. It's much larger than the stock opening in the fender. In one test that I read the guy punched the hole out in the fender to make it bigger and the Volant performed even better.

The Volant is constructed of top quality materials and is well putogether. They give you lousy installation instructions and you have to strech the MAF wires a little more than I like. BUT it is a great intake!! Looks good and sounds good.

And just for the record you can use a K&N filter in the Volant.
