Coolant flushing

So what's the best way to flush out a cooling system?

I'm always worried about getting a complete flush from the motor and not leaving any residue.

The drain plugs on the 4.6 are pretty well frozen but I figure if I take off the bottom hose from the motor, that would help to flush it out.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Craig

Best way I know of is to drain the radiator, take the thermostat out, disconnect the upper radiator hose. Then with the heater on high setting start the vehicle with a garden hose pumping fresh water into the reservoir. Leave everything running until the water coming out the disconnected hose is perfectly clear.

1st Question is what's it in.

then i agree with jimmsimm. you can by a adapter kit for like 5 bucks that makes it a hole lot easyer. my 98 has quick disconnects (tricky, knuckebusters but no room for tools) at the firewall. hoses are only about 12" long preformed and hard to reach at the back of the engine.

but if you truely want the easiest way jiffy lube does it and i stood next to the machine and watched the coolant color change to fresh green.
