My new intake!

I got a package the other day that I wasn't expecting. Turns out it was a late birthday present from my Father. A WMS intake. Just got it put on last night, so I haven't really had a chance to drive with it much. Although, it does seem to feel a little more responsive... Now that I've got intake, exhaust and a chip. I'd be real curious to drive a bone stock truck, just to feel the difference...

Dad should have his dyno going by the end of the year. I'll be putting the truck on it with and without the intake and chip and with one or the other just to see what happens. If anyone out there has dyno'd a bone stock regular cab, 2WD, 4.6L auto I'd really love to have your numbers. I want to take an average of as many as I can (although even one would still be nice, please), since I can't take my exhaust off now...

Well, have a wonderful week all... Betcha just can't wait to get back to work... I know I can't...

I don't get it, what's different from stock about this intake?

Size. Look down the tube of a stock intake. It's about 2" inside where the hole to the muffler is, plus there's no muffler. Also the tube going into the fender is 2" this replaces it with a 3" piece, not to mention the rubber flex tube on the stock intake isn't exactly a smooth passage... I don't like the look of a bright polished intake when nothing else is chrome or polished, and I don't want to suck in hot air either... I'm happy with this... just curious to see what kind of improvements it will bring...

It's made by Western Motorsports Inc. in Canada. They come in either black powder coat or ceramic coat. Here's the link:

But if the filter and inlet are the same as stock what difference does it make if the tube to the intake is bigger? I am not convinced that will provide much benefit. Not to be negative about your new mod, but just don't understand. Hopefully it will do something I can't see. It does look good.

Well, I guess I neglected to mention I already had a K&N drop-in filter, but the inlet to the filter box is not the same. The factory inlet is 2" dia., and this kit replaces it with a 3" dia. tube. I'm also contemplating running some type of duct from the lower opening of the grill up into the fender...

I like it!! Does anyone make an air filter that has an inverse cone so that air is filtered on both sides?

Not quite sure what you're talking about with an inverse filter, but I would like to find a reusable/K&N style filter for the OEM box that wasn't capped on the end...

I think what he means about the inlet being the same size is the hole in the frame. Or did you cut it to make it wider?

The Airforce One filter is not capped on the end. Not sure if it fits the OEM box.
