Finally changed the original factory fuel filter!

Got my @#$@%#$$@&^% fuel filter changed finally, and it seems to make a difference in the way the tuck ran, but it still has a slight miss when cruising at highway speeds at around 1500 rpms. I haven't driven it long since I changed the filter, though, maybe 20 minutes or so, so I will post back with what happened. I got 130,000 miles out of the stock fuel filter before it developed any problems. Is that good, or is it stupid? Fuel filter was just something that completely slipped my mind until someone brought it up to me the other day (thanks JMC), and my girlfriend brought me one today, with the line removal tool and all. She's great! Anyway, how long are we supposed to wait before changing the fuel filters?

I usually change mine every 30-40 thousand miles.

You never know what type of stuff that can get in your tank from an unknow gas station. Besides, for a 15 minute job, you can't go wrong.

Cool

HI!... I change mine every 2ND oil change. About every 6000KMS. Look how dirty thus fuel filter is and it only had 10,000KMS on it. Since I saw this I change it way more often. The pic doesn't due it justice. It was a ton dirtier than the pic shows.

Hey Neal,

You don't suppose that has anything to do with the "unique" driving habits of some, does it?

I drive about 1k miles a month and am going to try to start chaging it once a year (every 4th oil change). In the past, I have been in the "what's a fuel filter club" and figure it is a drastic improvement!

I've been changing mine every 20,000 kilometers, but after seeing Neels pics, I might go every 10.

Wow a g/f who buys you a fuel filter! Now that's one low maintenance chick.

Having worked in a service station for many years and seeing what goes down the hole I change my FF every 10K MI or so. The tanks at all statons are not locked. They are below the level of the ground and frequently are subjected to FOD. The well fills up with all sorts of junk and the tanker driver just pulls the cap and lets whatever is in the well run into the tank ( what does he care) hooks up hoses that more often than not are exposed to road grime during transit. And then runs fuel ( a great solvent) through them into the station tank. Had our shop retanked once. Bottom foot or so full of muddy crud. The tank doesn't pump from the very bottom but after a fuel dump the force of the new fuel pouring down on top of all that junk can get things moving prettty good. ( I try not to stop for fuel when the tanker is there dumping more fuel)

Yeah I know, she's awesome, I don't know what I'd do without her!
