The throttle position sensor can get a dead spot in it, causing a hesitation when you first get on the gas.

Your right, that is why I pointed out that it seems to have started with less than a full tank of fuel and going around a corner. You didn't mention it doing it from a standing start or any other time, just when you went around a specific corner at a specific time.

TPS uses a 5v reference voltage. It should give off an inital signal voltage of about .5 to 1v with the trottle closed. Use a DVOM, and while watching the signal voltage. SLOWLY open the throttle. Watch for a smoth increase in voltage. If it goes from 1.4v to 0 to 1.9v then you have a dead spot ( and poss. hesitation prob.) in the TPS

What do you mean by 5v reference voltage.

I think I had the same problem on my '02 F150. It only happened in one spot on my way home from work. I would make a left turn and head up a hill into a sweeping right turn. I would give it a little more gas and it wouldn't do anything. It didn't seem to rev up, it didn't pick up speed and it didn't down shift. After a second or so of hesitation, it would downshift and go. What fixed it was trading it on my '03 Expy.

The other weird thing is, my Expy has the same engine and trans (5.4L/4r70) as my truck did, but it feels totally different. My truck had a slightly rough idle and the trans did not shift very smooth. The Expy on the other hand, idles dead smooth and the trans shifts much better. I don't know if the difference is just normal build variations or if they made some minor improvements in programming, etc?
