FRAM "SureDrain"???

Hey all......just curious if anyone has seen or purchased and tried the new FRAM gadget that is out...I think it is called "Sure Drain" or something like that...saw it at WalMart and it sparked my interest but did not like the way it protruded from the oil pan and the fact that there is only a little screw on dustcap to seperate what ever is underneath your vehicle from your oil. Pulling the drain plug really is not that messy but the concept is cool and it would really keep things a little neater when you are lying under your truck.

Just wanted to hear your opinion on it..

150,000 miles on my 97 with a fumato drain valve. No problems with the valve at all. My truck is 2wd and used mostly on pavement. Not sure i would install any kind of drain valve on a 4x4 that is used off road. Very slight chance but a rock or stick might somehow open the valve. p.s. the fumato valve is of high quality. But it is made from brass so installing one means you lose a magnetized drain plug that will catch loose metal filings that are floating in your engine oil. But to answer Razo's post, i have seen the Fram valves. I would not install anything fram on my truck. IMO.

Excellent...thanx for the info people....both sound very convenitent...but I farm in South Dakota and am off road frequently and a stock 4wd F-150 is not that tall to begin with so I think I will stick with the factory plug.

Thanx again,

Run like a scalded skunk from the Fram unit. I installed it on my Accord and began noticing a small oil leak - never had one before - so I got under it suspecting that I had left it loose. I loosened the protective cap and the stream got pretty steady - NOT dripping. So, I loosened and retightened and it got progressively worse. I removed it a pitched the 500 mile oil as well as the Sure Blame and won't be using anything but the original from now on.
Later,
Chiz

Yeah, for 4 wheeling applications, I would not ever use an easy drain. As mentioned, too many chances for the drain valve to open up on the side of a mountain. The original plug is more inconvenient, but it'sa good trade for one less thing to worry about while 4 wheeling.
