Will it hurt to use 5-40 Shell rotella full synthetic oil in my 99 F250 5.4 it has 66,000 miles i have been using Mobil 1 5-30 i have been reading a lot of good things about the shell rotella.

 

Won't hurt your engine,

Though you will be going down a grade as the Rotella is a group III dino oil labeled as a synthetic and the Mobil 1 is a full PAO/Ester based synthetic.

Also since they raised the price of the Syn Rotella from $12/gallon to $18 a gallon your wasting your money in my opinion.

Secondly the fact is the Rotella is an Xw40 weight oil which will also cost you some fuel effeciency compared to the full synthetic Mobil1 in 5w30.

If it were me, I'd stay with what your using.

Useing Mobil One what should the max milage be between oil changes

Here is a link to a guy with 17,000 miles on mobil 1 and it still looks good. He is doing a study to see how long it will go, by doing oil analysis every 1000 miles it's interesting.

personally I would be comfortable doing 10,000 no problem with mobil 1 and a filter change at 5,000. Without doing oil analysis.

 

I have been changing at 6000 i think i will move to 10,000 thanks again.

 

Rotella T Syn 5w40 has been priced at 12.84 a gallon at Wal-Mart for the last several months. Wal-Mart plays the same game with this stuff as the Mobil 1. Mobil 1 was 18.88 in the 5qt jugs, then went up for a month or two, then came back down for the last several months. Its gone (or is going) back up to over $23 for a 5 qt container right now. It'll go back down in a month or two advertised aas the "new" lower price, when it is just the same as before...

The Rotella Syn works well in my '88 Jeep Cherokee, but I have no need to step up a grade on my '99 F150.
