97 plain jane 5 speed 4.6. The book says don't spray it down with cleaner...has anyone tried? $190.00 for the replacement..

 

I have used cleaner in the past. I suppose that the IAC could be coated just like the throttle body butterfly. I would get the special cleaner they make just for the throttle body. Remove the electronics from the plunger assy. clean and blow dry. I lube with a little light oil and dry agian as good as poss. put it back together and there you go.
