Electric Fan
I have a 2000 Expy with a 4.6. My question is when the air condition is on, would it be better if I had an additional electric fan to work only when the air condition is on. I had this on my jeep and the gauges were a lot more sensitive to the temp changes , it seemed to drop the temperature on the engine while sitting in traffic. I do a lot of stop and go driving going in and out of Manhattan every day.
I am thinking of installing a 16" derale pusher fan. Any comments will be helpful.

Renegade1, I've had similar thoughts about adding an additional fan. I realize, JMC, that the factory setup is sufficient for even fairly extreme heat. My primary reason was to increase cooling for the A/C while sitting in traffic in 100+ temps. My A/C does not always cool well here in Texas. And, Renegade1, you're right the temp gages on these Fords are damped so much, all you really know is whether you are cold, medium, or hot.
Let us know if you add the fan and if it seems to help.

Before you spend the $$4 on a fan try a 180-5° thermostat from a Lightning. It will help keep the underhood temps down.
I am running one now in an effort to verify a cooling system problem I have.
