Dont sweat the Hemi, as far as torque goes..

Found this on DTW:
There is a rumor going around St.Louis that I hope is not true. People keep telling me that at the NRHA Craftsman Truck Nationals (Gateway Speedway) last month organizers where hooking up new trucks, from various manufacturers, bumper to bumpers with a tow strap. The would put the hammer to it and see whos got the power. Supposedly, the new Ford 5.4L Triton pulled the new Dodge Hemi around like a rag doll. Appearently the Triton delivers most of its HP at 1000 RPMs and the Hemi delivers most of it HP at 5000 to 6000 RPMs. People are now calling the new Hemi "The Semi Hemi", that's embarrassing. Has anyone else heard this?
HI!... All I know is that for a truck that's supposed to have 345H.P (flywheel) that's it's not too impressive on the street or track. MIKE T and I figure my truck is making about 340H.P and about 400FT/LBS of TQ and I have smoked every reg-cab, short-box HEMI I have raced. Usually by about 5-6 truck lengths. I'm not impressed.............. not AT ALL.

someone needs to line the trucks up stock to stock and i think you will see the hemi makes more power. i have no doubt that Neal smokes them but thats not a good comparison.
One of the guys on the forum said he road tested a new hemi and the 04 Ford and the Ford outpulled the Dodge. I also saw on I think Blue Oval news where Ford is coming out soon with a commercial to dust of the Hemi add where the hemi is pulling a trailler with charger. The Ford is pulled an on old GT Mustange and will beat the Dodge in a side bt side race. Can't wait. The Ford is a red pulling a white GT. Thaqt will end the Hemi sales.

I've been reading several reports on the new F-150, several that the Webmaster posted, and according to all the sources, the new F-150 has the highest towing capacity in its class, and ever for that matter.
Based on the charts alone it sounds to me atleast like it's about the same story comparing the 5.4 to Chevy's 5.3 - The 5.4 will prove to be the better towing engine due to it making its power at lower RPM's, while the Hemi stock atleast will probably win the drag race with it's increased HP. Guess it comes down to if you want to race or pull!

I have a hard time believing that you are only making 345 hp. If I start adding up the mods that I know you have, you must be making more than that. Isn't that 5.4 of yours 260 hp in stock configuration? I would tend to think that you are pushing 400 hp right now.
Not wanting to argue -- but perhaps a bit of advice from you, the horsepower pro: I've got a 98 4.6 (pre PI heads, I think) manual with
Superchip
ASP pulleys
Derale fans
JBA headers
Borla catback
Densos
Walbro fuel pump
24# injectors
MSD coil packs
Accel wires
Gatorback
Pro-M mass air
AF-1
What kind of power gains do you think I could get with ported heads?
Thanks for your help!

HI!... Peddler1000 : I think the estimate of 345H.P (flywheel) that MIKE T and I have agreed on is pretty close. Yes my "99" 5.4 came from the factory in stock form with 260H.P (flywheel).
STOCK - 260H.P
SUPERCHIP - 28H.P
JDM LT HEADERS + MAGNAFLOW EXHAUST - 20H.P
ASP PULLEYS - 7H.P
DERALE TWIN 16" ELECTRIC FANS - 15H.P
Then there are other things that I have done that would probaby amount to another 10-15H.P. So the total would be about 330-345H.P (flywheel). The 1/4 mile times and MPH support this #. As for 400H.P (flywheel), well mabey after I install my two best friends that the UPS guy dropped off at my house yesturday.

Heres a dyno for ya. He did put a magnaflow muffler on it so those numbers might be high by 2 or 3 hp and torque.

To spell it out for people, 20% drive train lost on 345hp and 375torque is 276hp and 300torque. Slim's numbers show 273hp and 311torque, or 21% drive train loss on hp and 18% drive train loss on torque.
So you were saying 03F1504x4?
