93 5.0
93 5.0
I have a 93 f150 with a 5.0 litre. I was haveing problems with some ticking comeing from the motor and a wied shake. After removing the heads I found that the exhaust valve on the 8th cylinder had a small hole in it. So I purchased a set of rebuilt stock heads from Power heads in Fullerton California and installed them.
Now I have a new problem, first I was unable to place one of the bolts for the A/C bracket and one bolt for the alternator due to the fact that the stock heads have a wierd tap or downsizer to fit the stock bolts and the new heads dont accomodate. Second there is a loud knocking coming from it seems to be the valve covers, there is also alot of white smoke coming frome the engine as a whole. I have changed heads before but have never had this problem. Please help

White smoke usally indicates that water is getting into the combustion chamber. I don't know what the final answer is but, things to think about:
Did you follow the tourque sequence and tourque to the factory specs?
Did the head gaskets oil and water journals line up with the block and the head?
The 302 (5.0L) has been in production for many years and there are other heads that will physically fit that are not the correct head (351C, etc...). Did you get the correct heads?
There also may be a problem with the "remanufactured" head or a more serious problem further inside the engine.
Good Luck,
T
