Unhappy Throttle cable snapped??

I was coming home from a night on the town, and I decided to lay down a bit of rubber in my usual place, so I punched it. I hit the gas, and POP, the throttle cable let go, snapped clean in two at the pedal. The only good thing was that I was only about three blocks from home, and I could limp home idling in gear. Of all the times for it to let go, sigh. Sorry I'm a little bummed out, because I have to get towed to the shop. Why couldn't it be a hard metal linkage like my "other" vehicle?,,,,98

On second thought, I might just buy the cable and do it myself. The dealer has always been at least $380, for any given repair.,,,,98

I had mine snap on my 81. But it broke right in my driveway so I guess I should have been grateful?

He!! yeah you should do it yourself. Take a look at it, it cant be too difficult and you'll at least do it right.

Good luck.

Mine did it almost two years ago while passing on the highway in rush hour. That sucked...lemme tell ya. It was covered under warranty though. The brass end snapped right off at the pedal. I believe the part is almost $200, and at the time...there was only 1 floating around in the country.

Thumbs up

All fixed again! $44 + tax, a days wait for the part, and about 20 minutes to install. I was taking my time too Driving around in a non air conditioned 86 Ramcharger which needs front end work (BAD!) is no fun!! ,,,,98

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my RC!! It's just not quite ready for the road yet......
