Dumb Question.

OK folks this question relates to my previous post and is kind of an update. Yesterday I went and started the truck just for giggles, and it actually ran fairly well (at least I could press the throttle with out the engine dying). So I decided to see if the truck could tolerate just a simple drive to the end of the driveway and back (I have a long driveway). The truck ran OK to the end of the drive and back, then died. I noticed that the distrubutor was loose, and probaBLY HAD MOVED. Now the truck will not start at all. It cranks, but will not fire. Could the timing cause the truck to not run at all? Or is this a possible new problem? I am running out of patience and considering a good mechanic, but I'd like to see if you guys have any input.

RW

If you are qustioning if bad timing will keep an engine from running, then it is time for you to take it to a good mechanic.

Spark timing is very important for the engine to run. Get a manual and set it.

Appreciate the good repiles. I have worked to the max of what I know (not much). I am going to take the truck to a decent mechanic and hope for the best. Thanks for the replies.
