5.4 possible PCM woes
My 5.4 suffers the age old pinging problem which escaltes into full blown detonation.
I have paid Ford and numerous mechanics to figure this one out. They seem to think the truck is normal.
I have replaced. MAF, DFPE, EGR and plugs, coils and even the belt on the thing.
Running highest octane fuel I can find.
Nothing cures it for long.
I can uplug any one of the sensors without getting a code. The only time this truck will come up with a code is after it has blown a spark plug and gets a miss.
Any further troubleshooting ideas would be greatly appreciated. I keep replacing things I should have a new truck. I only have 45 thousand miles on it as it is.
Think I am opting for a PCM dependent upon what I hear from those on this board.
