Exclamation Please Help!

I replaced my fuel filter and now I have a bad miis on #3 cylinder. I have checked the fuel injector, spark plug, and wire. Does anyone have any ideas or has anyone ever heard of this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

A year and model might help troubleshoot your problem.

I would try replacing the fuel filter with a different brand. Or maybe draining the tank to see what was in it.

However fuel flows to other cylinders you probably have one of several problems dependent upon what engine/ PCM configuration is on your vehicle.

It is a 98 4x4 with the 4.6 liter. I used a motocraft fuel filter and the problem started right after and gradually got worse. I swapped #3 aand #1 injectors to see if the injector was clooged but it still missed on #3.

Check your coil pack.

I pulled the spark plug and grounded to check and see if it was firing it was. Is there some other way to check the coil pack? Since it was getting a spark does that mean that it could still be bad?

Might sound stupid but is the filter in its correct position. Flow arrow pointing toward motor.

Yes it's in the right way. The holder will only allow you to put it in the correct way. It has a lip on the filter that slides into a groove on the holder.

Just because you have spark when you ground the plug doesn't mean that it is the right spark!

Instead of swapping injectors with another cylinder try swapping a coil and see if you can move the miss.

Also check the connection to the coil and while you are in there you might as well replace the plug.

I seriously doubt the miss was caused by the fuel filter replacement, just a coincidence.

A 98 4.6 won't have individual coil packs so I would put in a new spark plug and check the plug wire to see if it is arcing through. Did you wash the engine or anything when you put the fuel filter on?

Make sure that you have the plugs wired to the coil packs correctly, this will really mess up the firing if the plugs are not wired up right.

Talking Thanks for the help!

It was the plug wire. I was under the hood with thetruck running and missing and I heard a ticking noise. It was a small hole in the plug boot. It was just coincidence that it happened then. Thank yall for the help.
