Unhappy How do you program the key ?

Well after losing $ 200.00 worth of keys now the dealer wants to charge me half an hour labor rate to program the key and the FOB. My wife's chevy lumina has a chip in the key and I went to the GM dealer they ground it and it started right up.

So any way I bought the ford key and FOB, I think I can program the FOB (in the owners manual I think haven't looked) but any ideas how to do the key? I unhooked the battery with the new key turned on, didn't work.. looked through the menu on the trip I think it's in there but don't know?

Any ideas any ford technicians...

I would really appreceiate any Ideas Thanks Guys

Okay I tried 1 to 15 times turning the key on and off trying to start it after each try. nothing (just about wore out the ignition though) the theft light blinks when it doesn't recognize the key though I did notice that. Any other ideas..

Thanks

I am fairly sure that you need to have at least two (2) programmed keys in your possesion in order to reprogram any other keys. You also have to reprogram any and all keys for that vehicle at the same time. I programmed a key for my remote start and the procedure starts with: Install one of the programmed keys into the ignition then the other... The instructions are in your owners manual.

PS: This is the number one reason you should alway have at least three (3) programmed keys, one to lose and two to reprogram.....good luck....

Good key #1 in ignition switch to on then off, no time limit. Good key #2 in ignition switch to on then off, no time limit. New ke in ignition switch to on then off, no time limit.

You must have 2 good keys. This is to keep the parking valet from duping your key.

Thank you Screw loose and tiger your both absolutely right on 98's and up you must have 2 good keys if not you have to take it to the dealer and they hook up a computer to the truck to make it accept the second key...

Dang it, I guess I might as well make my appointment and another 50 bucks and get it over with...

By the way my truck is a 01 super.

thanks again guys
