Question 5w20again

I think my head is gonna EXPLODE, so what have we all decided about this, should we stick to the factory specs or should we venture off into our own and use what we think is right. I'll be due for an oil change in 1000 miles and I think I'm gonna stick to specs

It probably comes down to personal experience and personal judgment. I'm staying with Amsoil 0W-30 because I'm satisfied with the long drain interval, 35,000 miles or 1 year, and the 3 filter changes. The warranty is in writing, and Amsoil claims to have never had to honor it, since 1972, when they started. The truck is getting a lot of miles, 83,000 with no problems. Amsoil products stay in the transmission and rear end too. And UPS delivers the stuff to my door, next day service. We go with 1-year-drain-intervals with Amsoil at work, and have since'95, with no problems.

I stick with the factory specs and play it safe.
