I am sure no one will believe this but here is what it took to stop my 2000 5.4 to stop making all the rackey under the hood. From pinging to full blown detonation.


I changed the belt. Seen fragments embedded in the belt and changed it since I had spent so much money on MAF sensors and every other thing I had read on these boards.

Was ready to replace the PCM but after spraying WD-40 to check for air leaks and noticing things got quieter as the belt got wet. I put on new belt.

Still an occasional ping but what even I would call normal. Especially for one of these motors.

Also feel a bit more horse power. Why I can't say but I am sure it goes like crazy. Maybe I just stand on it harder cuz it is quiet.

I don't believe I need it to hail volley ***** anymore to get me out of paying for this truck.
