The Motorcraft filter is basically a repackaged Purolator.

I don't know if they are the same but I would stick with the Motorcraft. I am sure it is cheaper in price but the quality is equal to or better then the Wix...

The Motorcraft filter is made by Purolator (actually Arvin Meritor, who sells filters under the Purolator Brand). It is essentially a Purolator Pure One filter with the Ford specified front end bypass valve. The Purolator filters use the bypass on the opposite end. A very good filter, runs about 2.97 at Wal-Mart.

Wix also makes an excellent filter. Their filters offer a heavier case than the Purolator filters, if that concerns you. High quality construction and it appears better flow based on unscientific testing. Bypass on the opposite end. Sold under the Wix brand, Napa Gold and Carquest Premium lineups. A good filter for about $6.

Can't go wrong with either filter...
