Adventures in Oil Changing
Adventures in Oil Changing
Today I was changing the oil & filter in my truck and I thought that the engine bay needed a little cleaning too. Anyhow, I spent a few minutes cleaning up in there, wiping everything off with a damp cloth, etc.
Anyhow, I recycle all of my oil, so I put the used oil container in the back of the truck, got in, and proceeded to start the beast up. It idled really rough, but I went ahead and drove off. I was getting pretty much no throttle response whatsoever, and a couple of times I thought it was going to die.
After a few minutes of driving like this, I thought that the Idle Air Controller had stuck again, so I drove home and popped the hood. After I took the shroud off of the throttle assembly, I couldn't beleive what I saw; the air intake hose was completely dislodged!
I put it back on, and problem solved.

It dislodged when you were cleaning the compartment? My entire truck is clean except the engine compartment. I wipe a few areas down now and then but don't like really messing around in there because it seems you can run into so many problems...
