P0453 code
P0453 code
My 99 Ligtning just had a probelm with the in-tank hose coming off one fuel pumps, so I had the tank dropped and the hose reconnected and now I am gettting the SES Code P0453. Soemthing to do with evap. pressure high. I have tried clearing the computer and the code comes back when I drive it. In the trouble shooting guide in the scanner it was refering to FTP, VREF, VPWR, and SIG RTN. What does this all mean and how do I fix it? Any help would really be appreciated, thanx.
Don't know if this will help or not, but this is the text from the Ford service manual on the DTC.
DTC
P0453 - FTP Sensor Circuit High Voltage Detected
Description
The PCM monitors the EVAP control system FTP sensor input signal to the PCM. The test fails when the signal average jumps above a minimum allowable calibrated parameter.
Possible Causes
FTP circuit open
VREF shorted to VPWR
Damaged PCM
FTP circuit shorted to VREF or VPWR
SIG RTN circuit open
Damaged FTP sensor
Diagnostic Aides
FTP V PID reading greater than 4.50 volts with key ON and engine OFF or during any engine operating mode indicates a hard fault.
FTP = Fuel Tank Pressure
Sounds like the wiring harness did not get plugged in correctly, or got mashed when re-installing.
Looks like it is time to drop it again, and check the wiring harness to see what is going on with it. Considering that the work was just done, I'd say un-hooked connector, or the connector got crapped up when it was disconnected.
Those are my ideas on the topic, due to what the manual states. May or may not help.
Let us know what you find out.
Good luck
