Hesitation
Hesitation
Question about the power on my wife's 2000 Expy EB with 5.4L.
It's been pretty hot here in Oklahoma
(like everywhere else, I know) and lately, at about 2000 to 2500 rpm's, while accelerating (in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear), there is a slightly noticeable hesitation in that range and a bit of a loss of power. It's not a jerky type of miss or anything like that but a smooth depression, if you will, in the acceleration curve of the engine in that rpm range. Once I get above the 2500 mark it takes off again like normal. Again, it's not real prominent, but becoming an annoyance. Does that have to do with the intense heat or is there anything else I need to look into?
I have no other abnormalities to report in relation to this (i.e. check engine light, noises, high temps). A few weeks ago, I ran some fuel injector cleaner. That had no effect on the power loss. I run, and have run 89 octane ever since we bought the truck new. We almost always stick to one brand of gas. We did go on a trip a week ago and used some other brands of gas, but this was happening prior to that trip.
TIA,
tbird
