Thumbs down HeadGasket leak is Back!

Hi-

Just got the truck back a few weeks ago from the Ford dealer. While in there, they replaced the passen. side head gasket because of a leak. I was underneath the truck again, tonight, and I noticed some oil seeping from what looked like the oil pan.

The wetness was as far forward as the AC compressor and as far back as the torque converter (drain plug area). This time the leak seems worse (more aggresive). I saw the headgasket, in the back of the block, and it looked wet.

Any advice would be appreciated. I will be bringing the truck up to the dealer tomorrow with the hope that they will have time to look at it.

I've heard that if a vehicle is brought in for the same problem 3 times the truck is considered a lemon. Is this true? What can I expect?

This really bugs me!

If they used the 'new' gasket, it sounds like they didn't check the block and head for flatness. If it doesn't meet Fords specs for flatness, the head(s) or and the block have to be replaced.

I'm thinking of just trading my truck in for a Mustang GT (4.6L) with a mannual 5 speed tranny. I have 20,000 miles on the sucker (2 years old) and I'm already having some serious leak issues.

If anyone wants to buy a brand new Troyer PPI Dual 16" fan kit in original box, please email me at: mattfar@sbcglobal.net

Also, ceramic coated JBA's are for sale, too.

Sorry you are so discouraged, though I understand the feeling. It can be fixed, my 99 5.4 got two new head gaskets in January, so far so good. The local dealer here still maintains that they have seen none with the new gaskets installed, return with problems. I certainly hope thats remains true, don't plan to trade for a couple of years yet. The flatness is critical, though, if the new gaskets are to work.

I have 60k on my 99 XLT 5.4 and it has had the gasket seep since around 40k. I have the 100k Ford ESP and my dealer knows about it. It only seeps it doesn't reach the ground.

I will prolly let it go until about 75k and then have them do both sides.

I love my truck and it runs too good right now and i have terrible luck with dealers and their work. Even though I really like this dealer.

I decided to trade my truck in for a 03 GT Mustang. I hope that you all still accept me here at f-150online. They are looking around for the mustang I want, so I'll keep all of you posted.
