Correct Coolant

What is the correct coolant to purchase from Autozone for a 2000 f150 5.4?

I see a goofy number in the owners manual.

I see is says not to use DEXCool so is there something more special to use than regular old prestone or the Green stuff?

thanks,

tom

That "goofy" number should be the Motorcraft part number (for use if you buy coolant from the parts dept. of Ford. Any green stuff, like Prestone will do. It's just important to use the spec'd fluid (green). Read teh mannual as for what to avoid. Make sure you use the 50/50 solution of water to coolant, and you can add a good additive like Red Line Water Wetter.

Thanks, I was hoping it wasn't getting more complicated than just use the green stuff.

I read all kinds of things in the owner's manual and see only Ford part numbers which makes perfect sense. I just don't run to Ford all that often.

Use some distilled water for your 50/50 mix.
