dual function res.?
hey guys! you know i dont know why ford does things the complicated ways! i have a 89 f-150 with the 300 6 and i am having troubles with my fuel system.first its frying pumps, then fuel pressure regulator now this lil black can that stores fuel!! its called a dual function resevior.its located on the frame rail right underneath the driver.i guess it stores fuel so incase you do off roading or somthing. they put these on dual tank models.
my question is, does ANYONE know if i can bypass this piece of ****? when it fails its mkaes my truck just die,and im sick of it.its now my 3rd one and and i hyave no truck for now! im only 18 and this was my first real truck, but i think i just went wrong by buying a ford, who knows, but if i cant figure out why its doing it or being able to bypass it im gunna switch to a dodge. if any of you guys out there know what this is or know how to bypass it, help!!! im desperete!!

You can't afford to fix your Ford, but you want to buy a Dodge?
The dual function reservoir switches the return fuel back to the tank that you switched to.
It has a diaphram that is activated by fuel press. which opens or closes ports within the reservoir to direct the return fuel to the tank that you are running off of.
Sounds like you problem is somewhere else.

are you diagnosing these problems or is someone else? and if you truck is a 89 is the mil light on? ( check engine) if it is i suggest you scan the computer for codes and see what it says if you have a auto zone in your area they will do this at no charge.
