Service engine light on after servicing filter
Service engine light on after servicing filter
The other day I took apart my air filter assembly to check my K+N filter and clean the MAS.
Anyone with a WMS Velocity Tube knows that it is sort of a pain to check the air filter.Did not clean or oil the filter,it was fine.
Anyway after putting everything back together the truck ran fine and there were no problems.Went for a drive and shut the truck down, started it back up and the Service Engine Light is on and will not re-set!!
Tried re-setting the computer several times but the Service Engine Light always comes back on after the 1st stop.
Have not had time to get scanned
Any ideas??
Going to get truck scanned Monday but would rather save some cash if it's something simple!

Check to see if your MAF sensor is plugged in ALL the way. I did the same with mine. If that isn't the problem, go to your local AutoZone, they have the capabilities to check your engine light for free, at least they do at the ones I work at.
Other than that, I don't know what else it could be, maybe someone else will post some troubleshooting techniques.

I agree. Make sure that the MAFS is plugged in, the air temp sensor, too. You might want to also check the gas cap for possible leaks and just to make sure it is seated properly. Also, make sure you id not bump any of the EGR wiring while checking the filter. After you have done all of this, re-set the computer by the regular technique. If the light still comes on, you might as well take her in to get read.
Keep in mind, bad gas quality can also set off the indicator light, also a faulty EGR valve (not that big a deal) can cause this. If it's not these causes, then it could be any one of the hunderds of codes. I don't think it is something to worry about.
so, good luck and let us know.
PS- also make sure that you latched the tube correctly, creating a seal.

Well I ended up not being able to find anything so to the garage I went.
It turned out to be a faulty DPFE sensor(whatever that does!!)
All I know is it's part of the emmission system.
Had it replaced and everything is good again.
