Truck is skipping
My truck has recently started to skipping. I am wondering is there a way for me to find out where the problem is? I have been told that it could be coil pack #4 gone bad. How can I trace the problem down and not go broke trying to find out? Or do I possibly need to change the spark plugs and wires?

The easiest way is if your check in light is on. Get the code read for free at Autozone and then post the results here. Give us some more info on your truck, year, mileage, etc.

99? ever change the plugs? as for as wires?there aint youve got coil over plug or COPS..change the plugs first along with the filter either being replaced with a K&N or Accells new "Cool Blue "filter"..then maybe a shot on the MAF wire with some electronics cleaner
Went to AutoZone and had the computer read. It confirmed what I had been told by a buddy. The #4 cylinder wasn't firing. With the #4 coil pack changed and a new spark plug installed, the skip was fixed. A friend said he has worked on several F-150's w/ the same problem. Is this common? He says that the A/C line runs right over the top of this coil pack and condenses and drops water onto the coil. Thus "shorting" the coil pack out and causing it to go bad. Are there any fixes for this?
Maybe I can make some kind of shield to keep the water off of this coil?!
Thanks!!!!!
