???

I've dumped as much as 1 gallon into my truck and never had any problems. It's SOP for me to dump my snowblower gas into my truck after winter is over. Been doing it for 10 years. I always make sure my tank is up to abut 3/4 full though. I've never dumped 3 gallons in, but if you add more gas to fill your tank you'll be ok.

I wouldn't think it would hurt your engine.

The gas was already diluted at 40:1? So your further diluting the mixture.

I wouldn't worry, just run the truck, Though I would go and make sure the tank if full with gas.

2-Stroke Gas

Not 100% sure, but I think that howstuffworks.com has an article on something like this. I have heard before that 2-stroke gas will not hurt your 4-stroke engine at all, I have heard that it can be good for it, but I would not go that far... Now if you put normal gas in the 2-stroke engine, your 2 stroke engine would not go very far The other way around shouldn't hurt anything. The only reason I put in my 2 cents is that I am a chemical engineer and once performed some studies about several different types of fuels. I think you are ok!

My biggest concern would be that it might smoke like a Chevy.

Just make sure you top off the tank to dilute the oil as much as possible and don't guilt trip your son too much. It's not as though he dumped diesel in the freshwater system like a friend did on my boat. Had to pull out and replace every inch of the freshwater system.

I wouldn't worry, jsut fill up tank to dilute as much as possible and drive on. Shouldn't even leave any deposits diluted to that amount. I use to dump 2-stroke gas in our old ATV all the time, yea it smoked and fouled plugs but the carb was messed up anyways and fouled the plugs every other ride anyway. Never hurt the engine.

Have you all heard about he ban that the federal govt is imposing. They are trying to out law all new 2 stroke marine and off-road exuipment by 2005 or 2007. My cousin races AMA Motocross and he said after the ban the only way he can ride a stroke is to stay a member of the AMA and sign that the bike will be used to "RACE ONLY". Not that's some BS, because these newer strokes and oils they use do not produce half the smoke the old ones did.

I had the same question, so I called Golden Spectro (an oil manufacturer). They said I was fine doing it, but I was probably better if I only dumped in 1-2 gallons per tank. I mix at 32:1 (4oz per. gallon of gas). Last time I dumped about 2 gallons of premix unleaded race gas into my truck. No problems here. It would take me years to use two gallons of gas starting camp fires.

KYFORDFREAK the anti 2-stroke thing is coming. The Peoples Republic of Kalifornia is already limiting access to riding areas on bikes they deem dirty, both 2 and 4-stroke. It's not all bad though. The best MX bike right now is the CRF450 Honda 4-stroke. It's light (only 10# more than the 2-stroke) and it flys. It makes more power than the 250 2-smokes (depite 450cc's, it is a 250 class bike), and is easier to ride fast for most (especially us old fat guys). Watch an AMA MX race. You'll usually see a 450 out front, at least 'till the first corner. Hopefully direct injecttion and other technologys will clean up the 2-stroke so it can stay around for those who want them.

Many people are not aware that typical gasoline contains small amounts of oil. This is done for fuel pump lube, top end lube and it also helps the processing equipment last longer. Two stroke oil is just fine in your truck in small amounts. I would not want to run 25 gallons of 40 to 1 if not necessary. The cat will function well with small amounts of oil, as most of the oil is consumed in the combustion chamber. The cat will have to deal with small levels of additional unburned hydrocarbons, Nowhere near the level of a normal cold start up.

It's actually a good thing. Look at what's happening to outboard boat engines. They're more dependable and way more economical to run with modern injected and 4-stroke outboards rivaling inboard economy. It wasn't too long ago that 2-stroke outboards used upwards of double the fuel that an inboard gas engine burned. It used to be that boats with 2-stroke engines would be heading back to shore at noon. These days, they can stay out just as long as the guys with the inboard engines. They can also troll all day long without fowling plugs.

Getting away from the 2-stroke oil burning engine is definitely a good thing.

Modern engineering is making the 4-stroke smaller and more powerful. It won't be too long when we won't even think about 2-stroke engines in the majority of applications they are now used in.
