Truck Dies
There is a large hill by my shop and everytime I go up and have to stop at the stoplight, my truck dies. It happened again last night and I didn't even come to a complete stop just slowed down. It has happened at other places also. Any time I do heavy breaking it will turn off. It starts back up just fine, there are no computer codes and no service engine soon light. My truck has 46,000 miles on it, and this is the only problem I have had so far. Has anyone else had this problem, what could it be.
Thanks

Maybe the IAC is dirty and needs to be taken out and cleaned ( o
or you can just replace it ).
This is the Idle Air Controller it is was gets air around the butterfly when it is all the way closed. If it gets crapped up and don't let air by, you might just be choking the engine off. This might have started as a stumble at stop / rough idle.
JMC took his out 2 years ago and cleaned it, and hasn't had a problem with it yet.
Thing is, it is a b!tch to get to, it is the cylinder on the back of the throttle Body.
If you look from the pass side, shine a flash light behind the T/B you will see it.
I haven't had to clean mine yet so I con't tell you how bad it is to get off, I think JMC just takes the T/B off, to get to it easier.
Check through the member postings of JMC or Neal they posted a picture a few weeks ( months ) back with the location of it on a N/A engine.
If you try a search on IAC* you can find the pictures also I think ( min 4 letter search length).
Just a thought of what it might be, considering you don't have to reset the fuel switch to make it start again.
The other thing that is might be is have you replaced the air filter lately ( or put on a FIPK ) ?
If you have un mettered air getting in, it can make the engine run like crap, but I have never heard of it killing the engine ( just A/F out of wack, and the PCM has problems getting every thing corrected ).
Good luck
