failed connecting rods
failed connecting rods
two broken connecting rods and a hole in my engine block. Ford has denied the warranty claim on this 20K mi. engine in a 2002 Lightning. I believe that the rods were defective. Ford says the engine was over-reved. Is there any history of connecting rod failures in 5.4L engines that I can use to fight Ford? Any suggestions to assist me in my fight would be appreciated.
welcome!
Two suggestions to help you:
1. Post your concerns and problem in the Lightning forum (farther down on the list). Other Lightning owners have experienced your problem and will know exactly what you should do.
2. The search function at the top of the screen is the best on any site, I have ever used. You could search just in the Lightning section and use key words to help you find threads and posts that are similar to your situation and find out what they did. Good Luck.

HI!... Go to the "LIGHTNING" section of this site and post the same question. The LIGHTNINGS are breaking rods all the time here but that is 99% on 5.4's that are severely modded. Is your LIGHTNING modded. If not then how could you over rev it? The factory program in your PCM has a rev limiter that prevents over revving. Do you have a after market computer chip in yout PCM? If so then your screwed. The dealer will try to void your warrenty if they see any mods done to your truck.
