Check Engine warning
Check Engine warning
I recently purchased a 96 F-150 with a V6.Last week the "Check Engine" warning light came on.The truck still runs just fine.Does anyone know what might be causing this.It would be nice to find out if it was something simple before the expense of a visit to a mechanics.I thank you in advance for any help.
Maybe a Code number ?
Kind of hard to tell from the list as long as my arm what it could be.
Need to get it scanned, if you don't have access to a ODB-II scanner, then you could try AutoZone, or PepBoys. It has been noted that one of these might do it for free.

Here's a simple one for you. It worked for me after I had a similar problem several years ago. Turn off the truck, take off your gas cap and then reseat it firmly in the locked position, then restart. If the problem light is still there, you'll have to take it to someone to read your engine codes. Sounds silly, but it fixed my problem, I wasn't prperly seating my cap. This is a long shot, but maybe you'll get lucky like me.
