Tick Tick Tick - On Cold start Solved
I had a tick tick tick sound coming from the engine compartment for awhile but it didn't happen all the time. Usually only on cold starts and it would go away after the truck got warmed up. I thought at first it was a bearing starting to go on one of the pulleys.
Last weekend I pulled the Serp. belt off and checked each one of the pulleys with a stethescope. Nothing. I checked the belt it looked fine however on one rib there was one crack. I ended up changing the belt to a Gatorback and the noise went away. That one small crack across one rib in the belt was causing my ticking noise. Just a thought for some that are frustrated.

Glad to hear the belt solved your problem. I've been hearing a similair noise coming from the same general area, however I'm not sure if I would refer to it as a 'ticking' noise or not. Gatorbacks are made by Goodyear correct? Are they available at Autozone?
STX yes the Gatorback is made by Goodyear and yes you should be able to get it from Autozone for about 27-29 bucks or so I myself just ordered one on Tues and will be picking it up today.
